Overview

What this programme is for

Industrial waste is where compliance failures become expensive fastest. The exposure is rarely the treatment itself; it is characterisation that was never done properly, storage that would not survive an inspection, or a manifest trail with a gap in it.

This programme is built for EHS and operations teams who carry that risk. It works through the waste streams a plant actually produces, the authorisations that govern them, and the documentation that turns a defensible practice into a provable one.

What it covers

Characterising and classifying an industrial waste stream correctly
On-site storage, labelling and containment that withstands inspection
Treatment and disposal routes, including TSDF and co-processing
Authorisations, manifests and returns — the compliance paper trail
Waste minimisation and resource recovery within the process itself
Incident preparedness and response

The full syllabus is shared on enquiry

Detailed module structures, session plans and assessment criteria are our own design, so we don’t publish them. Get in touch and we’ll send the complete syllabus along with sample case material.

What you’ll be able to do

Classify a plant's waste streams correctly and defend the classification
Set up on-site storage that meets the rules and survives an inspection
Select a treatment or disposal route and evidence why it was appropriate
Maintain an authorisation, manifest and returns trail with no gaps
Identify waste minimisation opportunities that pay for themselves

Regulations and frameworks covered

The programme works against the rules that actually bind you, not a generic overview.

  • Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016
  • Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974
  • Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981
  • Consent to Establish and Consent to Operate regimes

Who teaches it

AIWMR Faculty

Industrial EHS and compliance practitioners

Our faculty are practitioners. They consult for industry, advise municipalities and run research projects, and they teach from that work rather than from a textbook.
