What this programme is for
Almost every Indian city carries a legacy dumpsite: decades of unsegregated waste on land that is now valuable, generating leachate into groundwater and methane into the air, and periodically catching fire.
Clearing them is among the most technically demanding and politically visible work in the sector. This programme covers how to characterise a legacy site, how biomining and bioremediation actually perform against what is promised in tender documents, and how to plan for the fractions that have no market.
